Mitsubishi Oz eyes i-MiEV minicab electric van

A TINY Mitsubishi all-electric delivery van is set to do for commercial vehicles what the pioneering i-MiEV city runabout did for passenger cars.

Revealed in Japan ahead of its showroom rollout there next month, the Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV is also a chance for Australia, where it would be aimed at the big-city delivery vehicle market from about 2013.

Plug-in Volt hits the road as Holden rips camouflage from range-extender trial cars

HOLDEN has started a one-year countdown to the launch of Australia’s first range-extender electric car, the Volt, by pulling the wraps off the first of three evaluation cars that are set to criss-cross the country to give the company a handle on the pioneering plug-in technology in Australian conditions.

Blade Electric Vehicles receives DOTARS approval to make 100 vehicles per year

February 12th, 2010

Following a successful crash test last year, BEV has received official approval from the Department of Transport Administrator of Vehicle Standards to produce up to 100 electric vehicles per year. This builds on BEV’s status as a licensed low volume (second stage) manufacturer of motor vehicles.

Australia’s first street legal Tesla Roadster hits the road

After four years of waiting, electric car enthusiast Simon Hackett is at last commuting to and from work behind the wheel of Australia’s first road-registered fully-electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster.

Last week, electric vehicle innovator Tesla Motors delivered to him Australia’s first road-legal right-hand-drive Tesla Roadster Sport.
